Commuters in Pueblo West, Colorado have been enjoying NAKED infusions salsa on their way to work, courtesy of the Slug & Chug food truck. Slug & Chug started feeding hungry locals on June 4, 2015, and has developed a loyal following.
Slug & Chug is the creation of husband and wife team John and Tonya Wyles. "We always dreamed of opening a little restaurant someday," Tonya explained. They decided to stop waiting for someday when Tonya was laid off. "We decided to open a food truck because there is less overhead, and more flexibility than a brick & mortar business. We can go to where the people are. Plus, the food truck culture isn't oversaturated here. In Pueblo it is pretty much just getting started."
The Wyles decided to serve breakfast burritos and coffee so they could offer commuters "something that tasted good that they can eat while they drive," Tonya said. They sampled, "every breakfast burrito in Pueblo, Pueblo West, and surrounding areas" while developing their burrito recipe. They use local Pueblo chiles, and fresh, local eggs.
Slug & Chug breakfast burritos feature NAKED infusions Black Silk Espresso salsa and NAKED infusions California Burnt Sage salsa. Why did they pick NAKED infusions? Tonya explains: "It tastes delicious, and I grew up in the same town as the owner [NAKED infusions founder Selene Kepila]. I figure I need to buy salsa, why not help another woman owned business, especially since I know her. But, the product speaks for itself, too. (She should thank her brother for sending me a box of samples a couple years ago!)"
Tonya said that Slug & Chug's customers often ask about the salsa. "We have many customers who really like it, and one who just LOVES it. She always gets extra to go. They like the story of how I found NAKED infusions. I let them know it is available at our local Sam's Club, too."
NAKED infusions founder Selene Kepila said, "Slug & Chug and NAKED infusions are a great combination. We both care about bringing people fresh, naked, unprocessed food that tastes great."
The Slug & Chug food truck can be found in Pueblo West, Colorado in the park and ride area at I25, exit 108. They also cater special lunch events where they serve Panini and quesadillas.
